safety for your business
Removal of the need for
some businesses to register with the relevant enforcing authority |

|
|
From the
6th of April 2009, factories, offices and shops in which your employees
work will no longer need to be registered with the relevant health and
safety authority.
You may still need to register under the requirements of other legislation as this change only applies under the Factories Act 1961 and the Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act 1963. Food and catering businesses still need to comply with food standards registration and other requirements enforced by the local authority and businesses producing, storing, using and/or transporting substances regulated under major hazards legislation enforced by the HSE. From 6 April 2009, factory employers no longer have to complete and keep the series of forms and records that make up the “general register”.
